Ku-ring-gai Council Online Mapping and DA Tracking

Josh shares some useful online property information resources

The websites below are a couple of good examples of the online facilities we utilise as agents to find out more about properties and keep up-to-date on what development is happening in the local area. Whether you are buying, selling or just like to stay informed you may find these links helpful:

KMC Online Mapping Tool

Anyone familiar with the buying and selling process will know a quick glance at the section 149 certificate in the contract of sale can reveal critical information about a property - what is the zoning? Is the land bushfire prone? Is the home heritage listed? etc. But what if the property you are interested in isn't for sale and there isn't a contract to review? Maybe you just want to know more about your current home or that interesting house you walk past in the next street. Fortunately Ku-ring-gai council now has a powerful online mapping tool that allows you to find out all this and more with a just few clicks of the mouse.

Some of the available functions include:

  • Property related information
  • View different map layers depending on the information you are after – planning zones, development standards, topography, bush fire prone land, vegetation etc.
  • View aerial photography of all land in Ku-ring-gai – 2014.
  • Find a facility near to you – schools, childcare, playgrounds, parks, dog off leash areas etc.
  • View heritage items and areas
  • View Federal, State and Local Government Electoral boundaries.
  • Measurement and Printing tools.

The data provided is quite comprehensive - even providing the days for waste/recycling collection! You will find the new system here.

Many of you will already use the Councils online DA tracking facility found here. This is a fantastic resource when you know what you are looking for, but wouldn't it be great to get an email whenever a new DA was submitted close to your home (or any other property you may be interested in)? If you answered yes then head over to planningalerts.org.au and they will do just that and for free. Simply enter an address and your email address to receive a single, daily email containing any new applications lodged within a 2km radius. PlanningAlerts provides this service for a large number of councils throughout Australia and is great for keeping abreast of what is happening in your local neighbourhood.
