Turramurra is a hilly suburb nestled in Sydney’s upper North Shore. The area is divided into North Turramurra, the top of which is Ku-ring-gai National Park, and South Turramurra, bordered by Lane Cove National Park. Combined, Turramurra covers 6 square kilometres. In 2011, the population was estimated at 11, 084. It is largely comprised of established couples or families and elderly singles. Turramurra is located just 17 km from the CBD.
Transport
Turramurra station is on the North Shore, Northern and Western line of the Sydney trains network. The Pacific Highway is the major arterial road in Turramurra. Buses 572, 545 and 575 leave from Turramurra Station to Chatswood and 572, 611, 607x, 575 and 288 to the city.
Facilities (Shops, Parks, Restaurants)
Turramurra’s largest commercial centre is beside the station along both Pacific Highway and Rohini Street, a stretch which includes bakeries, grocery stores, real estate agents, banks and a petrol station. Supermarkets are also readily available, with both an IGA and a Coles in walking distance from the station. East Turramurra also offers a veterinary hospital, a fine wine store, a gift shop, delicatessen and butcher. Shops are also available in both North and South Turramurra. Turramurra boasts 14 parks in total, including Turramurra Memorial Park and the natural bushland of the Ku-ring-gai National Park in the North. A range of cuisine is also offered, including Indian, Thai, Italian and Tapas.
