A modest suburb at approximately 4 square kilometres, West Pymble is 18 kilometres north-west of the CBD. Pymble was originally used for logging and then later used for orchards, including the citrus, apple, pear and stone fruits. Today, West Pymble is a quiet leafy suburb, with 10 parks covering 14% of total area and a population of roughly 5, 149.
Transport
West Pymble does not have its own train station, although bus route 560 runs from West Pymble to Gordon railway station. Bus routes 575, 545 and 621 also travel from West Pymble to the CBD and 575, 545 and 572 to Chatswood.
Facilities (Shops, Parks, Restaurants)
The Phillip Mall shops located on Kendall Street is the major commercial hub of West Pymble, and includes an IGA supermarket, beauty salon and hairdresser, a greengrocer, takeaway outlets, butchers, a newsagent and café, as well as a physiotherapist, dentist and veterinary clinic. Phillip Mall also includes a large children’s playground. West Pymble is surrounded by the Lane Cove National Park, and also hosts the Bicentennial Park on Lofberg Rd, which includes netball courts, soccer and cricket fields, a public swimming pool, barbeque facilities and a children’s playground. There are also two churches- St Matthew’s Anglican Church on Kendall Street and Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Catholic Church on Kendall Street.
